Your thoughts regarding the difficulty of extracting a trapped caver in Jordan, plus questions regarding your insurance coverage, were clear and reasonable ones. Your enthusiasm regarding further cave exploration is not! It was luck, not wisdom and experience, that brought you from this adventure unscathed, dear nephew. I love reading about your adventures, but this one was CREEPY. And scary. Your vivid description was almost too much for a claustrophobe like me to bear. Do plan your next spelunking trip using the clear and reasonable side of your brain.

Thank the Adventures Class for at least teaching you to have plenty of lights and at least 3 people when you go spelunking!

Well, we wanted to but when we got there, only Abu Ali's son was there (not Ali; another one) - I told him to thank his parents for their help again and gave up on the flashlight.

After we returned to Amman, I discovered that somehow the flashlight had wound up in the backseat of the car. It was a complete mystery to us because the entire car was locked and the window was only open a couple inches.

BTW, I don't suppose you accepted the kindly offer of further hospitality from your elder Jordanian escorts after you all emerged (somewhat less than pristine) from the cave? Did you find your 2 dinar flashlight at the entrance?

Just in case you've forgotten: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floyd_Collins

If you're going to be famous for something, someday, I'd prefer it be something else!

That said, it did sound like quite an adventure! Please consider joining a group (Caving, Jordan?) with some more experienced spelunkers if you want to do more of it.

Sounds like quite an adventure, cousin!

BTW Mom and I were just leaving Oakwood when the man at the desk said you'd called. He said the staff would relay your birthday wishes to Grandma!
